R&D Activities

Each year at Singular Logic, we invest a significant part of our turnover into R&D and into the development of new, pioneering methodologies and state-of-the-art technological tools. The European Projects Department of Singular Logic works on the design and implementation of innovative applications and platforms targeting different business sectors as well as on the engineering and management of business services.

The activities of the department span over five main different application areas:Future Internet Enterprises:
The main focus is the deployment of Future Internet technologies (Internet of Services, Internet of Things) supporting all processes in supply chain environments such as sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, etc. Research focuses on integration/ federation of different heterogeneous information sources (services, sensor platforms, social media) with analytics capabilities, aiming at creating a holistic and dynamic monitoring environment for enterprises.

Platforms and Services
The main focus is the management of IT services during their whole lifecycle. Part of the research focuses on the development of innovating platforms for future service ecosystems that rely on dynamic IT infrastructures, such as Cloud Computing. Main research objectives in this research unit focus on platform management services, cloud security, extensibility of services, rapid development of new services, resource and performance management.
Security Activities
Along with solutions in the above sectors, SingularLogic is deploying cyber-security solutions as an integral element of its products and services. SingularLogic is therefore integrating cyber-security solutions as a means of enhancing the trustworthiness of its products and services. Likewise, it has also a rich track record of implementation of R&D security projects including EC projects co-funded as part of the FP7 and H2020 framework programmes.
SingularLogic has also significant experience in maintaining high quality security standards by being recognized for the trust and responsibility by its clients and achieving the ISO 27001 certificate annually. Our company has established a certified information security management system by providing a systematic approach to manage confidential and sensitive information. More specifically, SingularLogic has put in place an Information Safety Management System (ISMS) certified in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 27001:2005 international standard. The certificate covers the following operations: Planning & development, sales, integration of software solutions and project management for classified projects implemented at the company’s HQ in Athens, and providing hosting and IT system/infrastructure management services at the company’s data centers in Athens.
Role in the project:
SiLO’s involve in FINSEC will be centered on the collaborative security functionalities and tools of the project, including tools and techniques for security in the financial supply chain. In particular, SiLO will be in charge of contributing and customizing its collaborative security system and tools (developed in the CYSM project and enhanced in the MITIGATE project) to the needs of critical infrastructures in the financial sector. Hence, SiLO will actively participate in WP4, where the collaborative security tools will be customized and adapted to the FINSEC reference architecture. Moreover, SiLO will have the leading role in the development of the market platform infrastructure of the project in WP7, based on its experience in developing on-line marketplaces.
