Norsk Regnesentral Stiftelse

Profile:

Norwegian Computing Centre (NRS) is a private, independent, non-profit foundation established in 1952. NRS carries out contract research and development projects in the areas of information and communication technology and applied statistical modelling. The clients are a broad range of industrial, commercial, and public service organizations in the national as well as the international market. Our scientific and technical capabilities are further developed in cooperation with the Research Council of Norway and key customers. The results of our projects may take the form of reports, software, prototypes, and short courses. Many results have their uptake in innovation done together with our customers.

The Department of Applied Research in information Technology (DART) offers applied research within smart information systems, information security, universal design, and e-inclusion. The DART Security Group is currently conducting research into adaptive security, security metrics, risk management, cybersecurity, computer forensics, and critical infrastructure protection. In addition, NRS has been coordinator of many research and innovation projects at the Norwegian and European level.

As stated in the Research Council of Norway report about technical-industrial research institutes, 2016, NR is “clearly contributing to value creation in Norway”, has “good academic scores and at the same time serve their customers well” with very stable staff, and has “valuable stream of international experience to Norwegian industry”.

Role in the project:

NRS will primarily participate in the security workpackages and lead the efforts on adaptive multi-layer data collection, and standardisation and best practice. NRS will also work with the end-user partners on requirements and pilot deployments and participating on developing business cases and models to support exploitation.
